Lake George, NY

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a diverse and interesting professional career.

I have a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University; a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Purdue University; a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and a Juris Doctor degree also from UNC Chapel Hill.

I worked for over ten years as an engineer and engineering supervisor, with experience in gas turbine engines (Pratt & Whitney Aircraft); light manufacturing (R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company); and engineering design and construction services (Sverdrup Corporation, which subsequently merged with Jacobs Engineering).

I have worked for approximately fifteen years as an attorney.  I have worked at two large law firms in Philadelphia (Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Drinker Biddle & Reath).  And I have over a decade of experience as in-house patent counsel at two global corporations (International Business Machines Corporation in NY and West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. in PA).  At West, I was the sole in-house patent counsel.  And I worked for Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore as an Intellectual Property Manager in the University's technology transfer office.

I am licensed to practice law in Tennessee, Pennsylvania and New York (and also in North Carolina, where I am currently inactive).  I am a registered patent attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office.  Though now inactive, during my engineering career I was registered as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina and Kentucky.
